Looking for a simple, inexpensive dinner? Tacos are the ticket!
The only problem is how processed even this simple meal has become. From processed taco shells (which we'll cover in another post) to msg-laden taco seasoning packets, this meal is a minefield of unexpected risks... that is, unless you make your own taco seasoning, which is exactly what we're going to do today!
Believe me, once you make your own, you'll never go back to the prepackaged... unless it's The Parson's Pantry mixes, which are freshly made! Coming soon!
Needless to say, we all know how to dice tomatoes, shred a bit of romaine, and grate some medium chedder (if you like safe ingredients, try Tillmaook!). Most even know how to brown hamburger meat so the kicker is seasoning that meat before you cook it up!
Tacos are a wonderfully flexible dish that can be paired with Spanish rice, guacamole, refried or black beans, chips, salsa, you name it!
Now that you're hungry and salivating, let's make it!
The Parson's Pantry Taco Seasoning Recipe
Servings:
Use roughly 2 Tbs for 1 lb hb meat, which makes enough for roughly 4 meals
Ingredients:
2 Tbs & 1 1/4 tsp ground cumin
3 Tbs smoked paprika
1 Tbs salt
3 tsp oregano
1 tsp ground black pepper
2 1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 3/4 tsp onion powder
1 1/4 tsp cayenne
Directions:
Add all the ingredients in a medium size bowl.
Whisk together until well-blended.
Sprinkle about half the mix for every pound of meat (or less if you like less zing in your tacos!)
Enjoy!
